Heaven is a state of mind
it’s for believing
not just achieving
as if the whole of your life
was a calculated guess
Heaven is between the lines
it’s understanding
not just demanding
for the whole of your life
is far beyond mere words
Heaven is here and now
it’s in the waking
not just partaking
’cause the whole of your life
is instantaneously gone

sometimes
Gets the best of me
sometimes
There’s nothing past to see
sometimes
I forget
The rest of me
sometimes
Sits very quietly
sometimes
Awaiting patiently
sometimes
I remember

As I closed my eyes to sleep
I saw an image of myself
Standing at the seashore
Arms outstretched
To greet the wind
That was strong and forceful
But invisible as always
Though my eyes were closed
I could see and feel
The setting sun flicker
A dance of sparkle and light
From a million, million waves
I don’t know if it was the future
Or a fantasy
A premonition
Or a dream
But in that moment
It was now
And that’s all it means
