Creating What We Don’t Want

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

What you think about expands. It’s been mentioned many times here, and it’ll keep coming up, as it’s essential to understand that everything is (vibrational) energy, including our thoughts.

The challenge lies in becoming aware of old patterns and habits of thinking, many of which have become beliefs, often becoming instilled into our DNA. More importantly, uprooting these little nasties can lead to self-berating or a lowered sense of self-worth that only exacerbates the situation. Again, most of that is just old habits as well (you are like an onion; behold the layers!). Just as we criticize and belittle those around us (not their problem, it’s about you) we tend to treat ourselves with an even greater malice, because “we should know better” and such. I think that’s far too heavy an energy to bring into this practice.

Start from a place of love, especially with yourself, and you can’t go wrong. Start slowly training yourself into awareness of your responses to any given situation, even if it seems silly and insignificant. Create and find that space between impulse and response, giving yourself a moment in which to catch up, inject compassion, and move forward in an easier, more graceful method. –tb

Creating What We Don’t Want
When Worry Becomes A Prayer

If prayer is an intention that we announce to the universe in order to create a desired outcome, then our every thought is a prayer. This includes thoughts of worry as well as of hope. All thoughts are subtle creative energy. Some thoughts are more focused or repeated more often, gathering strength. Some are written down or spoken, giving them even greater power. Every thought we have is part of a process whereby we co-create our experience and our reality with the universe. When we use our creative energy unconsciously, we create what is commonly known as self-fulfilling prophecy. In essence, when we worry, we are repeatedly praying and lending our energy to the creation of something we don’t want.

The good news is that we can retrain our minds and thoughts to focus our energy on what we do desire to bring into our lives. Since most worry is repetitive, it will take more than one positive thought to counteract the energy we’ve created. The simplest antidote to worry is affirmations. When we hold these positive thoughts, repeat them often, speak them and write them and refer to them throughout our day, we are using focused energy to create positive results.

We can start right away, together: I am a creative being, using my energy to co-create a wonderful world. I know that I create my experience of life from within, and as I do so, I also create ripples of energy around me that echo into the world. My positive thoughts gather together with the thoughts and prayers of others, and together we create enough positive energy to heal not only our own lives but the world we share. I am grateful for the ability to cocreate good in my life and in the world.

A lot of times we have concerned loved ones that worry about us. When this happens they are also sending out a worry prayer to the world. A loving conversation letting them know what is happening is the easiest solution. Also, ask them to send you positive affirmations rather than worry about you. After all, worry doesn’t do them any good either. Explain to them that worry can actually be energetically harmful to you and that wishing good things for you is much more beneficial and much more fun too.

Unwrapped Presence

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

I stopped by Lonsdale Quay this evening, having some time before a movie. Wanted some food.

I’d spent the last few hours wandering the Seawalk/Seawall, getting in a good dose of ideas and insights from a few podcast interviews.

I happened across a fish & chips vendor. Hadn’t tried that in a long while. The owner (I’m assuming) was working away. Bit of a surly chap, but proud of his product.

“This your first time?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Oh, you’re gonna like it. It’s a nice, light batter.”

And it was. We continued the conversation for a bit, upon noticing a customer bring back a few bottles of vinegar. He commented on the fact that somebody stole two of his salt and pepper shakers. I examined one and noticed an interesting design, like a small glass mug. He said that he gets them for a buck each at the dollar store. So, not a major loss. But the principle of course is key. “They’d steal your teeth if you gave ‘em a chance.”

I don’t know what that means.

I suggested that they are of a neat design and maybe he should sell them himself, for a buck-fifty each, since clearly somebody else thought them interesting enough to take them home, with the added bonus of salt and pepper. He chuckled with a “yeah… might be a good idea,” and wandered into the back to check on my food, grunting a command to his young employee (his son most likely) on his way.

Now, it’s not necessarily a million-dollar idea, but I’m trying to make a point. :)

When you’re stuck in a cloud of routine, filtering everything that comes at you – limited by that which you’ve allowed yourself to become thus far – you may be missing opportunities that show up, and then walk right on by. There’s nothing wrong with that of course, as everything does happen in accordance with the “right time” for you, on your journey. So don’t worry. The universe has no reason to deny you anything you want in life. That’s all your doing…

Keep in mind that you’re always attracting gifts, challenges, lessons, teachers, and students into your life, because it’s in your nature to expand and grow, whether you acknowledge, accept and implement it or not. Keep ignoring something, especially when it’s only YOU that is wanting to grow past it, and it’ll just keep on nagging and reappearing for you.

Remain open to possibilities. You have a singular perspective, and while it’s always most important to trust your own feelings on an issue, it may not be in your best interest to develop a “No!” knee-jerk response to the ideas introduced from without.

Law of Attraction and the Role of Action

Friday, February 15th, 2008

A simple, succinct explanation… love it!
tb

Recently someone asked me if you have to take action once you set an intention using the Law of Attraction (LOA) or if you can just set the intention and go on about your merry way.

For the LOA to work effectively you have to set a clear intention and then become a vibrational match for it. What does that mean? It means you need step into energetic harmony with your intention. When you are out of harmony with your intention you will inadvertently (or sometimes perhaps consciously) cancel your request with the universe. For example, someone who is overweight who says, “I want to be thin” and then orders french fries at lunch is not a vibrational match for their intention. Their actions do not support their intention.

Here’s an analogy to help you understand better…

Let’s say your intention is to acquire some fresh fish from a lake. Using the LOA does not mean you sit back on your couch and say, “I want some fresh fish from the lake” and wait for Jeannie to conjure it up for you on a plate with some lemon and tartar sauce. All you’ve done is set the intention. Next you need to get a fishing pole, buy some bait, get a pail, get in your truck, high tail it to the lake, find a nice spot where you actually see some fish, bait your hook, and cast it into the water. Now you are a vibrational match for your desire. Now the universe can see you really want it. It’s up to the universe to get the fish to notice your bait and start biting.

If, while fishing, you start thinking, “But what if the fish aren’t biting today?” or “I probably won’t catch anything” then you’re slipping out of vibrational harmony with your intention. A lot of people set an intention, become a vibrational match for it (i.e. go through the motions of trying to achieve their desire) and then slip out of harmony with their desire by thinking thoughts of failure. In the areas where you are not in control, leave it to the universe to manifest your desire. In the areas where you are in control, take consistent and positive action (i.e. getting to the lake with your fishing pole).

Now how specific do you need to be? What if you get to the lake and say, “I only want to catch sea bass.” That’s your choice, but be sure there are actually some sea bass in that lake, and don’t whine if all you catch are halibut. You can be specific with the LOA but you are tying your hands when you do that. Instead, be sure to make your intention as broad as you can but something that is still what you want. For example, you may say you want some fresh fish, but maybe what you really want is dinner. In that case, the universe has many ways of bringing you dinner and most don’t involve killing cute and cuddly fishies. ;)

Another example of this is in the area of love. People write to me frequently asking how to use the LOA to attract a specific person. I ask them, “Are you wanting to attract love or this specific person?” Often they think they want a specific person but what they really want is love. If love is what you want, keep your mind and options open. It could be that the perfect person is knocking on your door, but if you’re out stalking John or Jane at the mall you just might miss them. ;)

To sum up, for the Law of Attraction to work you must set a clear intention, become a vibrational match for it by taking action within your control, and trust the universe to manifest your intention.
