New Music: Gypsy Butterfly – Whispers of My Heart

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

whispers-artwork_600pxWhispers of My Heart is the new album by Carly Thomas, aka Gypsy Butterfly. It includes 8 new songs, and 3 pop/dance remixes from previous records, giving the album a unique sonic and musical twist.

Fans will immediately recognize the signature Gypsy Butterfly sound throughout, yet there is a distinct blend of styles that sets this album apart from her previous records. Produced once again by frequent collaborator, Trance Blackman – who performed all the instruments and background vocals – Whispers of My Heart continues and expands on Carly’s musical, emotional, and spiritual journey.

The record opens with the inspirational “Believe”, previously released as a single. The song was revised slightly for this album. The rest follow with Carly’s personal, powerful moments, gleaned from soul searching, life experience, and the natural side effects of going deeply within. Spiritual insights, meaningful messages, and romantic reverence delicately infuse each song, carried on the ever-present theme and foundation of love.

Listen to all the songs now at http://www.theGypsyButterfly.com/whispers or her Bandcamp site, where the songs and MP3s (or your preferred audio format) are immediately available for download.

A music video is soon to be released, as well as a planned CD release party. Check back here for updates! Spread the word. :)

Hey all. Just a few updates and thoughts for you…

2009 has started swiftly. Looks to be the most interesting year since 2008.

Work continues on Gypsy Butterfly‘s new music project, “Whispers of My Heart”. It’s got a good vibe to it, and it’s gonna be great. It’ll have the signature Butterfly acoustic/folk flare to it, blending pop and some world music influences where it fits. As mentioned previously, you can listen to her single “Believe” which will be featured on the album.

I’ve started utilizing Twitter more, and it seems to be taking over the planet. It’s interesting to see how social sites have progressed recently (for me personally, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter… in that order) as we “connect” in more real-time ways, across the globe. Still, it doesn’t beat hanging out with real people, in real life. :) Nevertheless, I believe Twitter can be a valuable service to you, if for nothing else, but to find out a little more about what interesting people do now and then.

Further to that, I recently donated a track (“Relevance“, from the Runaway album) to the Twestival.fm fundraising campaign. You can listen to all the artists featured on that page there, but do it quick as I believe the tracks are to be removed today (Feb 19th). You’re welcome to consider donating to the cause. For more info on that, visit the charity: water website. This is just one way of many, many ways that Twitter is impacting how organizations and communities can interact and get involved in causes they care about.

Something excellent that came of the Twestival event was Imogen Heap‘s donation of her vocal tracks of an unfinished song. She offered them to us creative folks to create our own interpretations (remixes) and in doing so created more awareness for the charity. That’s just groovy. I went ahead and created my own version of “The Song that Never Was”. You can listen here (or grab the tracks and make your own mix): Twestival (100 mixes as of this post, mine is #34), or at SoundCloud.

Thanks for listening, reading, etc. I’ll have new music myself in the coming months. Lots to finish up and… let go into the world.

Love your life.

Year-End Roundup 2008

Hi folks! Just wanted to share a few notes about what’s going on with WP…

Gypsy Butterfly released her single “Believe” — you can listen/download from AmazonMP3, Bandcamp, or YouLicense. Read more about it at WP or her website. It’s a preview of her new album Whispers of My Heart that’ll be arriving in early to mid-2009. Where Butterfly Kisses added some country-pop flare, the new project will return to a more world-music-folk-pop fusion, akin to her previous work on Diversity… Now and Movin’ On.

Judy Berg posted a wonderful story about meeting Gypsy Butterfly and their instant rapport in her blog.

New stores/sites/services featuring music from WP artists: Lala.com, Bandcamp.mu (Gypsy Butterfly, Trance Blackman), YouLicense, Digital Tunes, Amie Street.

Producers, filmmakers, video game designers, and other media creators can now license (most of) our music quite effortlessly from the YouLicense website. Feedback and thoughts are more than welcome.

Trance Blackman released Opus Instrumentalus 3: Inspired by Images. More details and information at the WP website. Current albums in production include the rock-pop Fleshwound, a return to pop-infused-electronica with OI4: Waves, and the pop-centric Love Songs, Vol. 1. Updates and more coming in early 2009.

Groovy blessings and love to all. Enjoy your holidays and celebrations in whatever format and custom you may be partaking in. :)
